Pulled, pulsed and decaying liquidity

Three behaviours that make an order book look stronger than it is, and how Antick marks each one.

Pulled liquidity

Pulled liquidity is size withdrawn as price approaches, which widens the effective spread at the worst moment. On Order Book Behavior Visualization it is marked with arrows, and the Liquidity traps panel totals the quote volume pulled across separate pulls.

2

Pulsed liquidity

Pulsed liquidity is size shown and withdrawn repeatedly at the same price, flashing on and off to attract attention. It is marked with rings and counted in the detection table, where its row shows how often it happened in the latest candle.

3

Depth decay

Depth decay is depth thinning over consecutive snapshots at the same price. It is drawn as a red trail and summarised as wall decay in Book insight: how much of its peak size the middle wall has lost.

4

Depth over time

On the Liquidity Metrics Breakdown page, Depth Stream shows buy pressure, sell pressure and net flow period by period, so you can see whether liquidity is building or draining.

Depth Stream: buy pressure, sell pressure and net flow over time.
Thin when it mattersAll three behaviours have the same effect: the book is thinner at the moment price arrives than it looked a moment earlier.
