Reading the market mood: Fear & Greed, breadth and active movers

How to tell whether the whole market is fearful, greedy, broad or narrow, before you judge a single asset.

Fear & Greed

Fear & Greed gives one number for how fearful or how greedy the market feels, from Extreme Fear through Fear, Neutral and Greed to Extreme Greed. It is built from seven components: breadth, trend, volatility, funding, liquidations, large-trader flow and narrative.

The card also shows a confidence value. A reading with low confidence deserves less weight than one the components agree on.

Active Movers and Market Ratio

Active Movers counts the assets that actually moved this period out of all assets measured, and names the most common market regime right now. Market Ratio shows the balance between opposite market conditions across every asset, for example bullish against bearish.

Market Breadth

Market Breadth shows how many assets are actually joining the move rather than just the loudest few, and labels the market bullish, bearish or balanced. It also splits large-trade buying against selling across the market.

Gainer / Loser Ratio and Key Market Signals

Gainer / Loser Ratio shows how many assets are up versus down, with the biggest names on each side. Key Market Signals collects the headline readings in one list: market trend, volatility, Fear & Greed, breadth, Top Trader Flow, liquidations and the dominant regime on each engine, each with its status and recent trend.

Turning mood into context

Extreme readings are context, not signals. Extreme Greed with narrowing breadth warns that a rally is running on fewer and fewer assets; Extreme Fear with heavy liquidations can mark forced selling rather than informed selling.

Mood is market-wideThese cards describe the whole market. An individual asset can still be in a healthy regime while the market is fearful, and the other way round.
