A read can sound decisive while the evidence behind it is thin. Before you rely on a label, check two things: its confidence, and the three bars in Risk & Stability.
One confidence number, shown in several places
The same confidence number appears as a percentage in Core State, on the Market State Overview gauge, and in the center of Risk & Stability. So treat them as one piece of evidence, not three.
| What to read | What it answers | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Confidence | How clearly does the data fit the label? | Asset strip, Core State, Market State Overview gauge, center of Risk & Stability |
| Upside and Downside | How do the scores for each side compare? | Market State Overview |
| Stability, Signal Quality and Risk | How steady and clean is the read, and how much could go wrong? | Bars in Risk & Stability |
Confidence is not the chance of profit
High confidence means the data clearly fits the label. It does not mean price will move in your favor. Low confidence is not a system error either. It is a real read: the evidence for the label is thin, so it says little on its own.
The three bars in Risk & Stability
Stability shows how steady the state has been. Signal Quality shows how clean the evidence is. Risk shows how much could go wrong.
The strongest reads combine a clear regime, high confidence, good Signal Quality and a stable state. A dramatic label with low confidence is the weakest kind of read, however exciting it sounds.
Case study: the latest BTC read
On the 1H candle that closed at 07:00 UTC on October 31, 2026, MSI read BTC as Awaiting Confirmation, with phase Building and an UP bias.
Confidence was 52%, which is the 52.3 on the gauge and the 52.27 in Risk & Stability. Stability was Transitioning, while Signal Quality and Risk were both Medium. Upside was 59.57% and Downside 47.1%, so neither side clearly dominated. This is a middling read with no confirmed regime, so it says little on its own.
The two candles below show why the bars matter as much as the confidence number.
| Candle closed (UTC) | Confidence | Stability | Signal Quality | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 30 19:00 | 82% | Stable | High | Extreme |
| Oct 30 20:00 | 14% | Shifting | High | Extreme |
| Oct 31 07:00 | 52% | Transitioning | Medium | Medium |
At 19:00 UTC on October 30, confidence was high, yet Risk was already Extreme, so high confidence did not mean safe. One hour later, confidence fell to 14% while Signal Quality stayed High, so the data was still clean but the condition had shifted. Always read the three bars together with confidence.
